Phil Walleystack is an award-winning singer-songwriter, composer, producer,

creative director, and cultural storyteller whose work celebrates and

shares the cultural knowledge, language and traditions of the Whadjuk, Yued, Ballardong

and Wardandi peoples of Western Australia.

Having studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the

National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA), Phil has built a

diverse career spanning music, screen production, live performance, cultural tourism and

major event delivery. His work combines contemporary artistic practice with Aboriginal

storytelling, creating engaging cultural experiences that connect audiences with the

richness of First Nations Australia.

As a composer, producer and recording artist, Phil works across music, screen, sound

design and storytelling, developing projects from concept through to studio production and

public presentation. His screen and composition credits include the original score for the

NITV series Our Medicine, the score for the Community Arts Network documentary

Boodjara, and the music and narrative content for the City of Perth's Christmas Light Trail

installation Moodjar Sentinels.

Phil's work has received significant industry recognition. In 2026, he won the Boyup Brook

West Australian Country Music Award for Contemporary Single of the Year for 'On the

Rock (Ginnunging Bo Chant)’ and received a WA Music Song of the Year Award for ‘Lore

of the Land’. He is also an inductee of the City of Cockburn Arts Hall of Fame, a recipient

of the Perth NAIDOC Artist of the Year Award, and has received multiple West Australian of

the Year nominations for his contribution to arts, culture and community.
